As I’ve stated before I enjoy erotic/ Nsfw comics and one of the first ones I read was a little piece called Hero Tales: Legs to Kill by writer/artist duo Otaku Bucky and Rabies T. Lagomorph, respectively, a witty and surprisingly well-constructed introduction to their erotic superhero universe or what Axel Braun tries to do but better. 

Situation

Our story opens up in Ebon City, where our main character and the city’s premier hero, Derek Hammer,  a cross between Captain America and Luke Cage. Hammer has just finished stopping an attempt on the life of one, Brehim Madaani, ambassador from the fictional country of Cai’roq. The ambassador’s anti-terror stance had made him the target of Diamond-Back, muscle for the terrorist group Intraid. After the police take the villain away all-star reporter, Lois Cho, steps in to get a scoop from Hammer about the recent attack and why he was escorting Madaani. Hammer plays coy about the situation, keeping it all business until Cho asks him for an exclusive, which leads to them having ravenous sex in her news van. 

Afterward, Hammer is assigned to Madaani’s guard detail for a special event, while Lois flirts her way in. They argue like a married couple until they come face to face with Ilyona Shikari, the strong and stacked, date of Mr. Madanni. While Lois and Hammer continue arguing Ilyona takes Madnni upstairs, to cause more trouble for our hero.

Story 

Otaku Bucky is a competent storyteller and I don’t mean that disparagingly. Legs to Kill is an example of what happens when an erotic comic writer comes to the table with a larger plan in mind and a lot of wit. This comic has one of my favorite line of all of comics “ And that, fellas is why you don’t bring guns to a hammer fight.” Hero Tales is a legitimate comic and not just an excuse to have people with nice bodies have sex. This is clear when you consider there is an actual plot and clear threads to a larger story at play. The women are also written with some sense of control of their sexuality often initiating sex instead of being victims of it.

Pictures

Rabies T Lagomorph is one of my favorite erotic illustrators in the game. His style is a distinct combination of firm and supple bodies, built for saving the day or enjoying the night. He also doesn’t make Hammer look like a white guy with a bad tan, which unfortunately can happen in comics. His design of Ilyona Shikari is not only sexy but invites the notion that she is not to be fucked with unless of course, she’s asking for it.         

Real 

The main thing I appreciate about Hero Tales, besides the sex, is that Hammer is not portrayed by as some insatiable black brute, whose only conscious thought is having sex with the nearest wet hole. I’ve found a number of these stories have this issue, along with the “thug” stereotype character being a mindless sex toy for white women. Hero Tales thankfully doesn’t have that problem, allowing Hammer to have a swagger about him as well as dimensions beyond the trope. I also like the fact that every character has a motive beyond sex, Hammer is a superhero, Cho is trying to make her career and Shikari, well you’ll have to read and see what she really wants. This is not to say that the depictions of sex aren’t fantastic in the way that only erotic stories are supposed to make them appear, but there is more going on here than an exchange of bodily fluids and low moaning. I’m looking forward to more from this universe as it combines two things that I enjoy more than anything sex and superheroes.
